First Line Leadership, Demystified

As a line worker, you are deep in the day-to-day, every day. Working closely with your colleagues to get the work done can be one of the most rewarding (and sometimes challenging) parts of being a first-line worker… but what about when the time comes to transition from being a do-er to leader?Common Traits of Successful LeadersOur two-day Essentials of First-Line Leadership workshop will equip you to meet that challenge. Your new role is multi-fold: you must be able to manage YOURSELF effectively, lead OTHERS capably, and take ACTION decisively on issues that affect your team and your company’s bottom line. It’s a big job, but you have the capacity to take it on and excel. What you’ll learn in Essentials of First Line LeadershipThis course teaches the skills needed to step out of the day-to-day and get work done through others. Participants have the opportunity to delve into crucial leadership topics like Self-Awareness, Giving Feedback, Managing Conflict, Delegating Work, and having Professional Presence. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to work with one of our Executive Coaches and put together your own Mini Development Action Plan in collaboration with your boss- an extremely valuable exercise designed to give you a roadmap to YOUR future growth. The intimate setting allows for deep insight and discussion with classmates from other companies and industries. It can take years on the job to internalize the most important leadership lessons, owing to the demands and distractions of day-to-day work. With EFLL, in just two days, your perspective and understanding of leadership will grow by leaps and bounds – setting you up for success, no matter where your career takes you.Who is it for? The small-class setting (only eight to ten participants) is geared towards current and recently promoted supervisors, “step up” employees preparing for future roles, and team leaders and employees who are curious about the skills needed for supervision. The course is especially suited for “hard hats” learning “soft skills” – we love to collaborate with plant workers at all levels to explore their unique skills and discuss what transitioning to supervision means in their roles.
